Rules

In addition to the general rules and regulations of the fair association, the following apply to the Home Arts and Crafts Department, and will be enforced:

1. Articles exhibited at previous fairs will not be permitted to enter for competition.

2. Exhibits must be delivered to the Home Arts building at the fairgrounds on Tuesday, Aug. 22, only between the hours of 1 to 8 p.m. Items entered in the fair are at the owners’ risk. We cannot be responsible for loss or damage of an article. Items brought in later than specified will be too late to be judged. If items cannot be left for exhibit until 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug 26th, please do not enter your items. All monies, ribbons and prizes not picked up by the close of the fair Saturday will be returned to general funds. Supervisors will be on hand to return exhibits starting at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug 26th. We will not be responsible for articles or premiums not collected by 10:30 p.m. Saturday. You can also pick up exhibits Monday, Aug 28th from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

3. Soiled or poorly pressed articles will not be accepted.

4. All articles exhibited must be completed.

5. The judges are instructed not to award premiums unless articles are worthy of first premium. The judges may award second or no premium according to their judgment.

6. All exhibits in this department must be the work of the exhibitor. Any irregularity in the entry, and misrepresentation detected before or after awards are made shall cause the forfeiture of the premium and ribbon.

7. Entries to be judged in this department are limited to current residents of Box Elder County.

8. Articles made by persons outside the county will be for exhibit only, as room allows.

9. Canning entries must have been completed no longer than 12 months. Entries in the Food category must be fresh and in other areas the entry must have been completed no longer than 3 years.

10. AN EXHIBITOR CAN ENTER MORE THAN ONE ITEM IN A CATEGORY BUT THE ITEMS MUST USE DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES. (i.e., crafts-Dolls: could enter one porcelain doll, one rag doll, and one crocheted doll, but not two (2) porcelain dolls).

11. School projects are accepted if brought in by the individual exhibitor. We invite parents to accompany their child when bringing exhibits.

12. Each food entry should be solely the work of the exhibitor from start to finish. A family or community group should not make a batch of food and split it among members to create several entries under different names.

13. Unless specified by the exhibitor, supervisors will classify articles.

14. Remodeled articles must be accompanied by a statement of what has been done to them and cost of remodeling.

15. Senior Citizen’s department must consist of work done by an exhibitor 65 years of age or over. All articles must be completed. Any kind of work may be entered.

16. A person can be named sweepstakes winner in a given category every third year.

17. The judging will be done Wednesday. The rules will be discussed with the judges. The judge’s decision will be final.

18. Exhibits will be in their place and ready for viewing Wednesday, at 6 p.m.

19. Premiums may be picked up on Friday afternoon or all-day Saturday.

20. ATTENTION: Due to problems in the past, all models (including LEGO’s, K’Nex, etc.) MUST BE PERMANENTLY GLUED TO BE ENTERED IN THE FAIR; water soluble glue suggested.
