The Pet Show consists of a display and presentation on a skill or technique specific to their pet and the opportunity to talk to the public about their companion animal. This year we have included a written test and skills station challenge for a more enhanced learning environment that focuses on pets we have learned throughout the year.

The divisions for the Pet Show are as follows: Dogs, Cats, Pocket Pets, Reptiles/ Amphibians, Aquatics and Diversity Division. Registration deadline for the Pet Show is Friday, July 31st by 5:00 p.m. Please sign up on https://4h.zsuites.org and register online.

The Box Elder County 4-H Dog Club was created in Box Elder County to develop well-educated K9 handlers who participate in education, showmanship, obedience, rally, and agility within our communities.  It is the second 4-H dog club program started in the state of Utah and we are in our eighth year.  Our program strives to include those youth who want to participate in youth 4-H activities year-round and show an animal at the local fair but do not have traditional county fair animals.

The goal of 4-H is to develop citizenship, leadership, responsibility, and life skills through experiential learning programs and a positive youth development approach.  Through club activities, members have participated in hands-on learning designed to give them the practical experience in all of these areas.

One of the unique aspects of PAWS for Applause is that it is a year-round program.  We meet on Tuesday nights throughout the year at the fairgrounds and local parks.  The youth learn the basics of showmanship, obedience, rally and agility.  Members have had the opportunity to participate in clinics such as first aid, nutrition, health and wellness, anatomy and physiology, local, region and state events, and the Young Producer Program through IFA.

If you have any questions about our program, please feel free to contact Lanette Sorensen at (435) 279-4041 or pawsforapplause4hclub@gmail.com.  Thank you for your support.
